Who is behind The Happiness Girl?
Hi, I’m Tatjana Maul and I am the founder and creator of this blog. You can read more about me here.
Why do I sometimes see the name Dancyfood on this blog?
Dancyfood used to be the name of this blog for 7 years. I changed the name Dancyfood in August 2020 to The Happiness Girl because I feel that it fits this platform much better.
What does Dancyfood mean?

When I started this blog in 2013 I had to come up with a name. I used to have my own Bellydancing school with my mom, so that’s where the word ‘Dancy’ comes from. Also I wanted to inform people through my blog about food. Put it together and you get ‘Dancyfood’!

Why is this blog now called The Happiness Girl?
I felt like I outgrew the brand Dancyfood. It didn’t represent the most important message of this blog: Happiness.

I have a Maasai name ‘Nashipai’ that was given to me by the amazingly, strong and kind Maasai women that I worked with during my philanthropy trip to Kenya. Nashipai is translated as Happiness. And there it was; the perfect name for my blog that would both represent me and the message of my blog. Happiness!
Do you write/create everything yourself?

Yes, unless mentioned otherwise.

I want to send you my product for a review/post.

I am always open to honest, fun collabs! If I love your brand or product we could definitely work together! However I won’t do a collab if I don’t stand behind your product/brand or if your brand doesn’t align with mine. Simply send me an e-mail – info@thehappinessgirl – with the details and who knows; we might have a fun collab on the way soon!

Why do you have English and Dutch articles/videos?

Dancyfood started off as a Dutch blog & YouTube channel. However, because of my travels I noticed that a lot of my friends and other people abroad were interested in Dancyfood as well. Since English is a more universal language than Dutch I decided to switch everything to English. That way more people can enjoy all that’s on here.
All the Dutch items are older and since I put a lot of love into them, I didn’t feel the need to delete those.

Who takes your pictures?

I take most of the pictures myself. However I am lucky enough to work with amazing photographers. For example, a lot of the pictures of me with (and some without) my Miss Netherlands crown posted on this blog are taken by photographer Joshua Rood.

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in The Netherlands. In The Hague, a city by the beach. My mom is from Macedonia and my dad is half Polish & half Dutch.

Where have you lived?

I have lived in The Netherlands for most of my life. We also used to have a house on the island of Tenerife. So I was there a lot during my childhood. When I turned 19 years old I took a bold step and moved to the USA all by myself and lived there for a few years. In the USA I have lived in San Antonio, Texas and on South Beach Miami, Florida.

What did you study?

I have studied European Studies with a major in International Business Management and graduated.
Currently, I am studying Naturopathy (traditional medicine).

How long were you Miss Netherlands for?

I was crowned Miss Netherlands in December 2013 and handed over my crown to the next Miss Netherlands in september 2015. So I was Miss Netherlands for 2 years, which makes me the longest reigning Miss Netherlands so far.

Did you go to Miss World?

Yes! I am Miss Netherlands World 2014, so I went to the Miss World 2014 edition. It was absolutely AMAZING!

Which TV shows did you host so far?

I was the main TV host for two TV shows both on RTL4 in The Netherlands. One of them was a travel show ‘Welkom in mijn stad’ (Welcome to my city) where I showed the viewers the most fun things to do; where the hotspots were; and which other best places to go. I was the editor-in-chief for this TV show and by doing so I have learned how to create and put together a whole TV show.
The other TV show I hosted was ‘Van Passie naar Droombaan’ (From Passion to Dream job) where we followed people who worked at their dream job or we helped people find their dream job.
